United Nations Security Council Crisis in Venezuela, 2017
It is April 20, 2017 and there has been an emergency meeting called for the Security Council in New York City to address the current situation in Caracas, Venezuela. There have been protests, censorship of the media, and deaths that have taken place as a result of the violence from the government creating a possible humanitarian crisis in Venezuela. However, the government rejects any implications of that sort. As the Security Council it is imperative that the responsibility of the government and the opposition party that were involved in the murders of people in the streets is addressed. Is the violence justifiable? And, if so under what circumstances? The safety and security of the people is the ultimate goal of this committee.
